The Week Unzipped

+ Twenty-eight designers kick of fashion week by sending down earth-friendly designs down the run way. Below is the back view of my favorite, a stunner of a gown by Versace (made from hemp/ silk):
+ Remember Christian Lacroix's graduated tights (Spring 2008 Couture collection)? Susie from Style Bubble tries her hand at a DIY.
+ Model Daul Kim shaved her eyebrows off! Bonus points if you can spot her pulling the Mona Lisa on the runways this week- I already have.
+ I am madly in love with M.I.A., but thanks to My Empty Closet, I'm now just as in love with her sister, a socially and politically aware jewelry designer.

+ It's standard to know the names Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley. Splendora, however, delves into the lesser known fashion insiders. Interesting read!
+ J'adore Couture addresses the never ending debate: how relevant are fashion bloggers?
+ Newsweek put out this article about how models are looking more and more like "normal people". And to make a connection with J'adore Couture's never ending debate, read the the last line of the article.
+ Fashion week started! Here are some of my favorite looks from Saturday:

Katy Rodriguez does it right with the colors and the billowing sleeves. I pretty much loved her other stuff, too- so go check it out.

I love the mash up of textures in this look by Yigal Azrouel. style.com

So tell me, dear readers- what was the highlight of your week?
